God and Your Stuff

Do you believe that God cares how you use your stuff? Do you believe that, at the end of your earthly existence, you will be expected to give an accounting for your use of all that God has entrusted to your care on earth? How we use “our” possessions is a vitally important yet often overlooked part of spiritual formation.

Beginning on Wednesday, July 25, Dr. Douglas Himes, our comprehensive stewardship and capital campaign consultant, will lead a book study on Wesley K. Willmer’s God & Your Stuff: The Vital Link Between Your Possessions and Your Soul (ISBN 9781576832349). A past chairman of the Christian Stewardship Association, Dr. Willmer has recently been appointed Executive Vice President for the Mission Increase Foundation, a national granting and training foundation, and has been author, co-author, or editor of more than 20 books. The study group will meet once a month for three months on July 25, August 22, and September 26 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Foxdale Village. Participants should procure a copy of the book or e-book and prepare the introduction and first three chapters for the July session. Everyone is encouraged to bring their own lunch.
